In 2011, Women’s College Hospital (WCH) celebrated a century of innovation as it marked its 100th anniversary. With a series of captivating events, WCH highlighted its brilliant past and drew anticipation for an even brighter future.
And the celebrations continue. At two recent events honouring excellence in Canadian public relations, WCH received two esteemed awards for its outstanding campaign.
WCH was awarded Gold in the best use of special events category by the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Toronto and also received an Award of Excellence from the prestigious Ovation Awards, sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Toronto.
The campaign – 100 Years of Women’s Health – brought together a volunteer committee of over 30 women, who identified a series of initiatives to pay homage to WCH’s history and showcase how we are revolutionizing health care for women today.
“What a great idea to pull together a group of volunteers from diverse backgrounds to help design the events and provide input and support to your execution,” explained the judges in an award evaluation. “You were clever in finding ways to communicate and outreach with the relatively limited funding available.”
The award-winning campaign emphasized the hospital’s steadfast commitment to advancing the health of women and developing innovative solutions that improve the health system as a whole.
“At Women’s College Hospital, providing excellent health care is always at the forefront. That was our priority 100 years ago and that’s what it remains today,” explains Marilyn Emery, president and CEO. “These awards are not only a great honour, but they are a testament to the remarkable work at Women’s College and provided an opportunity to reach new audiences and garner support for our extraordinary hospital.”
