A gift of thanks

April 16, 2012

Every day you probably see construction workers as you come to work at Women’s College Hospital (WCH), while waiting in line for coffee or while grabbing a quick lunch. Every day they work hard to build our new hospital.

On March 29, 2012 the surgical team showed their appreciation. They came together to thank the construction workers for pouring the concrete on the eighth floor of the new building – what will soon become the surgery program’s new home.

On behalf of staff and physicians, Vicky Noguera, director of surgical services, presented the construction workers with a pink sheet covered in staff and physician handprints. “The pink sheet of hands is presented as a thank you for all your handiwork that enables our handiwork,” Noguera said.

Following the presentation, clinical manager Sue Bell described how memorable the event was for the surgical program. “Our staff was pleased to take part in the presentation and to be on site with the construction team to see and learn about the status of our new hospital,” she said.

David Hope, director of capital redevelopment, was thrilled to participate along with the redevelopment team. “The gesture of thanks was well received by the construction workers,” he said.
