Honouring our commitment to education

from the July 11, 2011 issue of Connect

Women’s College Hospital has a strong and proud history of academic excellence. We have mentored women leaders since we began in 1911 and have been a teaching hospital associated with the University of Toronto since 1961. That’s why on June 23 we celebrated our teachers and all of their outstanding achievements at the 2nd Annual Excellence in Education Awards Luncheon.

“This year’s award winners have been chosen from a vast field of accomplished nominees,” explains Marilyn Emery, president and CEO. “They encourage and inspire students while representing strong leadership and creativity. And most importantly they act not only as teachers, but also as mentors and advisors.”

The annual awards are presented to educators who have been nominated by a student, clinical education co-ordinator, manager, department chief or colleague for their dedication to excellence in the education of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students. The nominations are based on the educator’s ability to inspire and mentor their students as well as their commitment to clinical teaching and supervision.
