Women’s College Hospital walks for women’s health

Celebrate Mother’s Day this year by putting on your walking shoes and raising funds for Women’s College Hospital at the annual A Walk in the Park for Women's College Hospital event.

The fundraising event, organized by the Association of Volunteers at Women's College Hospital takes place in the north end of Queen’s Park on Sunday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“We’re hoping that the hospital community – staff, patients, family and friends – will join us in the fun and help build a stronger community while raising funds for The Association of Volunteer’s pledge to The Campaign for Women’s College Hospital,” says Pat McGee, co-ordinator of the walk and a volunteer at Women’s College Hospital.

The event is a refreshing way to get some exercise and chat with fellow colleagues and volunteers. To register for the walk, participants can collect pledges from family and friends. And on May 8 they walk, run or jog their way around the park as many times as they’d like.

“In honour of Women's College Hospital’s 100-year anniversary, we’re asking each walker to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges or donate $100 to register for the walk,” adds McGee.

Last May’s inaugural A Walk in the Parkwas a great success, raising just over $7,000. The Association of Volunteers is hoping for the same success and enthusiasm this year, with even more participants and funds raised.

Pledge forms are available in the gift shop, the volunteer lounge in Room W060, or click here to access an online version. Tax receipts will be issued for pledges of $20 or more.
