Women’s College Hospital’s centennial celebrated at Emily Stowe’s Café

On March 28, staff, physicians and volunteers gathered in Emily Stowe’s Café to celebrate Women’s College Hospital’s 100th anniversary.

Guests donned pink “100 years” buttons, enjoyed cake and voted for their favourite entries in a staff contest titled, “What does women’s health mean to you?” Participating departments created displays of their interpretation of women’s health – from poems to exceptional arts and crafts. After the party, the votes were tallied, and the winners were:

  • First place: Urgent Care Centre
  • Second place: Health Information
  • Third place: Trauma Therapy

Marilyn Emery, president and CEO, addressed the crowd by informing staff about a variety of exciting events being planned to celebrate the hospital’s anniversary year, and acknowledging everyone’s incredible efforts.

“This year, we are paying tribute to our founders and pioneers, the remarkable men and women who blazed the trail and set us on our path,” said Emery. “But this year is also about recognizing all of you – the staff, physicians, researchers and volunteers who, every day, work hard to make our hospital the special place that it is.”

Thanks to everyone who attended the celebration and participated in the contest. Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming events taking place throughout the year.
