On October 14, 2012, thousands of runners will flood the streets of Toronto for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM). Team Women’s College Hospital is busy training for the big day and Kelly Dickinson, special events co-ordinator at Women’s College Hospital Foundation, is looking forward to the challenge. This is Kelly’s first time participating in the STWM and more notably, it will be her first half marathon. While she does run frequently, mainly completing shorter distances, Kelly has yet to participate in such a lengthy race.
“I am a strong believer that you have to challenge and push yourself to do things you never thought you could,” she says. “This is a very exciting time for Women’s College Hospital with the building of the new facility. I am happy that I have the opportunity to be a part of it and contribute by raising funds through STWM.”
So far, Kelly has raised $1,050 toward her goal. Since she has surpassed her original goal of $1,000, she will be increasing it and also looks forward to raising much more along with the rest of Team Women’s College Hospital. It is still possible (and encouraged!) to sign up for the STWM, but spaces are filling up fast so don’t wait too long! When you register, choose Women’s College Hospital Foundation in the 2012 Charity Challenge, use the discount charity pin code 12SGCC and you will get a discount on your registration fee. If you don’t want to participate in the races, you can still support Team Women’s College Hospital by sponsoring the runners here.
