RBC honours Dr. Steven Narod, WCRI scientist

On September 30, 2009, Dr. Steven Narod, scientist, Women’s College Research Institute, was celebrated for his work by the Daniel Wealth Management Group of RBC Dominion Securities.  An event, held at MaRS Discovery District, acknowledged Dr. Narod’s accomplishments as one of Canada’s pre-eminent senior scientists in the field of breast cancer research.

“Few have contributed more than Dr. Narod to research on behalf of patients who are genetically at risk for breast cancer,” said Glen Daniel, vice-president and investment advisor, The Daniel Wealth Management Group of RBC Dominion Securities. “His commitment to unravelling the mystery behind a disease that has touched so many of us is what will lead to a cure and inspire others of similar mind to make a difference.”

Dr. Narod was presented a plaque for his dedication to cancer research, as well as a $5,000 grant towards his research at the Women’s College Research Institute. 

“Congratulations to Dr. Narod on being honoured for the important contribution his research is making to help find a cure for breast cancer,” says Dr. Paula Rochon, vice-president of research, Women’s College Hospital.  “The event celebrating his 15 years as a research chair in breast cancer was a beautiful tribute to his work and we are so proud to have Dr. Narod as part of our research institute.”
