Health Equity Plan

In 2008-09, hospitals in the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) were the first in Ontario to document their equity challenges, gaps, practices and improvement plans.

Women’s College Hospital’s equity vision aligns well with Toronto Central LHIN’s vision to ‘create and sustain a health-care system in Toronto where all have equitable access to a full range of high-quality health care and support, and systemic and avoidable health disparities are steadily reduced, ensuring equal opportunities for health for all.'

We recognize that women in general face systemic access barriers as well as differential care and treatment within the health-care system. Women’s College Hospital is a leader in developing health programs specifically for women, and ensuring that gender is taken into account in the delivery of all services. We also recognize that there are systemic inequalities among women. WCH is therefore committed to developing innovative programs and working collaborations that address such systemic barriers, and to meeting a wide range of specific needs facing diverse communities of women.

The attached health equity plan details our commitment toward this goal.
