The Multidisciplinary Osteoarthritis Program uses a "one stop" patient-centred approach, which assists individuals to participate in all aspects of their care.

The Multidisciplinary Osteoarthritis Program specializes in hip and knee osteoarthritis. The program is geared to consulting with those patients who have medical complications that necessitate a more complex level of care by a team of health-care professionals, or which may limit their ability to access appropriate treatment  (e.g. patients who have other complex health issues that need to be addressed in order to make them suitable candidates for joint replacement surgery, or those who are seeking other options for the management of their hip or knee osteoarthritis).

Individuals access the full team of specially educated professionals, rotating through each health discipline for a private consultation, and receive an individualized, in-depth assessment. Health team members include a physician, pharmacist, physical therapist, occupational therapist and clinical nurse specialist. An individualized, comprehensive program is developed along with the individual in order to promote a healthy,  active lifestyle. Patients also learn about treatment options and strategies to help them manage the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

Referral
A physician referral is required using the program referral form. Program referral forms are also available by calling (416) 323-2663.

Patients must bring X-rays (either films or CD) to their appointment.

Those individuals with osteoarthritis who do not meet the admission criteria for the Multidisciplinary Osteoarthritis Program, can access various services at Women’s College that may be able to help in their treatment. For example, clients with foot osteoarthritis might benefit from a consultation with the Foot Care Centre. Clients who have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis can take part in group education classes offered through Sport CARE. The Arthritis Society is another valuable resource that offers treatment and education opportunities in the community.
