Cancer Awareness: Ready for Education and Screening (CARES)

Research shows that many communities face barriers to getting checked for early signs of breast and cervical cancer.

There are language barriers, work and family responsibilities, confusion about the new screening guidelines for cervical cancer, fear of testing, fear of results....

It’s time for CARES – Cancer Awareness: Ready for Education and Screening

CARES is a program for women who have never been checked for these cancers or who are behind in having Pap tests and mammograms.

CARES works in the community and is a project of Women’s College Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital.

Upon request, CARES will come to:

  • your LINC class
  • your women’s group
  • your community centre
  • your job skills program
  • your local library
  • your community program
  • your faith community
  • your housing community

CARES provides information and supportive follow-up for low-income and newcomer communities.

Contact us to set up a CARES session for your group @ 416-323-6400 ext. 3059 or cares@wchospital.ca.
