Wellspring Cancer Support Network at Women’s College Hospital offers cancer support services to cancer patients and their families. The programs are open to patients, with any type of cancer and at any stage of illness, and their caregivers.
Services Provided
Money Matters Resource Centre
The Money Matters Resource Centre has information on government income programs, community resources and support to help cancer patients cope with the financial difficulty that can arise with a cancer diagnosis. Individual appointments with a money matters leader are also available.
Cancer Exercise
Increase your level of fitness, muscle strength, and flexibility. Research has shown that patients can benefit from exercise while undergoing treatment and that exercise can help with long-term recovery. This 10-week program is professionally led by exercise specialists who have been trained in cancer rehabilitation.
Peer Support
Meet in private and in confidence with a peer support volunteer. Peer support volunteers are cancer survivors and caregivers of cancer patients. By speaking with a peer support volunteer, patients and caregivers may gain a sense of comfort and reassurance.
Yoga
Yoga combines body awareness techniques, through gentle stretching and movement, with meditative and breathing exercises. It can help reduce stress, improve coping and help achieve a sense of calm and well-being.
Labyrinth Walking Meditation
The Labyrinth Walking Meditation program offers the opportunity to use Women’s College Hospital’s indoor labyrinth for a walking meditation that reduces stress and anxiety, and improves coping.
Discussion Series
Is there something you would like to know more about? Discussion Series are professionally led presentations on a wide variety of topics related to cancer. Find out about upcoming Discussion Series topics.
