The department of anesthesia at Women's College Hospital, fully affiliated with the department of anesthesia at the University of Toronto, has 11 anesthesiologists, as well as fellows, residents and interns who are training to become specialists in anesthesia. Surgeons may request an anesthesia consultation for a patient when an appointment is made for preoperative assessment in the preadmission clinic.
