The Abnormal Uterine Bleeding Clinic provides care to women with abnormal menstrual bleeding. The clinic will investigate, diagnose and provide ambulatory medical and surgical care to women with abnormal uterine bleeding.
The advanced ambulatory procedure program associated with the abnormal uterine bleeding program offers a multitude of ambulatory procedures, often performed under sedation. Procedures offered include global endometrial ablation to treat heavy menstrual bleeding; and advanced hysteroscopic procedures for treatment of endometrial polyps, leiomyoma and uterine adhesions. The procedure will be available under provincial healthcare funding without user fees.
Referrals to this clinic are triaged for appropriateness for care within an ambulatory institution. If a woman is likely to require care within an inpatient or acute care institution these referrals will not be accepted and are advised to be referred to an alternate gynecologist associated with an inpatient institution.
Referrals must be made by hospital-based physicians, family practitioners or specialists.
