Tridec was founded in 1971 and includes a multidisciplinary team of nurses, dietitians, social worker and physiotherapist.
Tridec offers individual counselling appointments to discuss on-going diabetes self-management, as well as group diabetes education programs. Topics of discussion may include: healthy eating, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, and psychosocial issues.
Programs are available for individuals age 18 years and older.
Programs that focus on Type 2 diabetes:
Finding Balance
This program is open to anyone living with diabetes. It is an eight-week educational group workshop that helps individuals learn new skills to manage their diabetes-related stress. The program is based on the mindfulness-based stress reduction and relaxation program developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. Read more on the Finding Balance program.
Support the Supporters
This program, facilitated by diabetes educators, provides the opportunity for caregivers, family and friends of individuals with diabetes to meet and discuss concerns, ask questions and/or seek guidance in relation to having a loved one with diabetes.
