The Henrietta Banting Breast Centre

In 1963, Women's College Hospital was the first hospital in Canada to use mammography as a routine diagnostic tool. In 1977 the Henrietta Banting Breast Centre was established to provide management of breast disease for women. Find out more about Women's College Hospital's history.

The Henrietta Banting Breast Centre consists of an interdisciplinary team of general and plastic surgeons, family physicians, nurses, and a dietician, social worker, occupational therapist and physical therapist.  We offer a range of services related to breast health and breast-related illness. These services include:

  • high-risk screens
  • diagnostic assessments
  • surgical oncology
  • plastic surgery
  • individual support
  • group education and support
  • nurse navigation
  • core biopsy

Our Vision Statement
"The Women's College Hospital breast program encompasses breast cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care, and research in breast disease and public and professional education. We are committed to a philosophy of integrated, interdisciplinary, timely and comprehensive programs and services."

Referral
Anyone entering our program must be referred by a general practitioner or specialist. We often recommend having your referring physician do a work-up prior to your appointment. You can find out more specific information about this by calling us at the number below.
