2012 Program
Women's College Hospital offers volunteer positions to eligible high-school and undergraduate university students during the summer months (July and/or August). Volunteer positions are available Monday through Friday during daytime hours in many areas, including gift shop, information desk, patient waiting rooms, medical imaging, dermatology, family practice, and surgical day care.
Eligibility. In order to qualify to be a student volunteer, you must:
- be at least 14 years of age, up to 25 years of age
- have completed Grade 9
- be a current student returning to school in the fall
- provide 2 completed reference forms
- have a tuberculosis skin test (two-step)
- submit a completed medical form
- attend an information session
Requirements. Student volunteers are required to:
- commit to the full month of either July or August (a few spots will be open for students who wish to volunteer for both months)
- work 3 half-day shifts per week (either 3 half-days or 1 ½ full days)
- pay a refundable $10.00 deposit on your security badge (you'll be provided with a t-shirt uniform)

1. New Applicants:
Join us for an information session on either of the following dates:
- Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 5 p.m.
- Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 5 p.m.
Information sessions are held in the Cummings Auditorium (room E139 on first floor of the hospital). Registration for these sessions is not required. Applications are DUE Thursday, May 24, the date of the last information session. You may submit your application at any time prior to this date to the volunteer office. You must attend an information session if you would like to be considered for the program. Medical forms are handed out at the session. Interviews will take place throughout the week of May 28.
2. Returning Students:
Youth who participated in the program in 2010 or 2011 who wish to reapply must submit an application by Thursday, May 24. References are not required. You are welcome to attend an information session, but are not required. Youth who participated in 2010 or 2011 will not be interviewed and will be welcomed into the program provided there were no underlying performance issues from prior years. You will be required to complete a one-step Tuberculosis Skin Test only (unless you had a chest x-ray in the past 5 years).
