Our Future

Ambulatory Anesthesia at Women's College Hospital

Women’s College Hospital is an ambulatory care centre with a focus on women’s health. A new building is in the planning stages, with the first phase of construction expected to begin in 2010. Eight operating rooms for ambulatory surgery are planned.

Our future growth in ambulatory anesthesia will incorporate:

  • excellence in ambulatory anesthesia
  • the development of clinical research models to explore best practices in ambulatory anesthesia
  • the development of research through a professorship in ambulatory anesthesia and women's health
  • teaching of ambulatory anesthesia at all training levels

A program for ambulatory anesthesia education and research is in the planning stages. It will include rotations and electives in ambulatory anesthesia for residents as well as a fellowship position. A professorship in ambulatory anesthesia has been established and will serve to support a clinical research program in ambulatory anesthesia.
