Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM)

Department of Medicine
Women's College Hospital

The General Internal Medicine (GIM) Clinic provides short-term follow-up to patients who have been admitted to the Acute Ambulatory Care Unit in order to facilitate a more timely discharge. In addition, the clinic provides consultation to family practice for patients with acute medical issues or patients with multiple complex medical problems, and offers ongoing management of patients with complex medical problems. The Goal of the General Internal Medicine Division at Women’s College Hospital is to reduce the avoidable hospital admissions of patients with acute medical issues, but particularly those individuals with multiple complex chronic conditions.
