In 1997, the Board of Directors of Women’s College Hospital passed a resolution to begin open Board meetings. The goal was to ensure that interested members of the public were given the opportunity to be informed about the governance of Women’s College Hospital.
Our Board meetings are open to the people in our community, staff, physicians, volunteers, media, and any other interested people. As a public organization, we are committed to open and full accountability. This initiative is one way in which we hope to demonstrate our commitment to ensure communication with our community.
With occasional exceptions, Board meetings are held at 5:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month in the Hospital Board Room, #6209. All meetings include an in-camera session at the end of each meeting, attended by Board Members only. Videotape, recording equipment and cameras are not permitted at Board meetings.
While we encourage all members of the public to attend Board meetings, to ensure adequate space and seating, we ask that you register with the Administrative Assistant to the Board by calling the Board office at 416-323-6400 ext. 7500 to indicate your plan to attend.
Attendees may participate in Board meetings as observers, but may not speak at Board meetings unless invited to do so by the Board Chair.
Should any individual or group wish to make a presentation to the Board, a letter or email outlining the nature of their request should be sent to the Board Office at least two weeks prior to the meeting. The request will be considered by the Board Chair and you will be notified one week prior to the meeting as to whether or not your request can be accommodated. Presentations are limited to 5 minutes and will be heard at the beginning of the meeting.
