Mental Health in Medicine Program

Service updates for appointments at WCH

  • We continue to provide mental health services during COVID-19.
  • If you have an upcoming in person appointment at Women’s College Hospital and you have a fever, cough, or new onset of shortness of breath, have travelled outside Canada in the last 14 days, tested positive for COVID-19, or been instructed to self-isolate by Public Health please do not come to the hospital, call the clinic directly for more information.
  • The hospital is open only to patients with appointments, please see our visitor restrictions information.
  • New and follow-up appointments are booked as virtual visits, using the telephone or over video.  Learn how to set-up a video visit.
  • Some current appointments may need to be rescheduled. You will receive a call from us with any changes to your appointment.

The Mental Health in Medicine Program is a specialized mental health service that provides assessment and time-limited treatment to clients with mental health concerns that are secondary to or complicated by a concurrent medical illness.  This does not include specialized services in eating disorders.

We are a multidisciplinary team of psychiatry, nursing, social work and occupational therapy that provide:

  • Psychiatric assessment
  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Individual time-limited psychotherapy
  • Access to groups

Referral

A referral is required from a physician and must include the client’s family doctor’s information.

We currently accept only Women's College Hospital internal referrals for the services listed above.
