North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week is an annual observance held in the first full week of May to spread awareness about workplace health and safety and promote the well-being of staff. During this week, we recognize the teams, partners and committee members at WCH that work to ensure your safety.
To highlight key members from these teams, we are profiling the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness (OHSW) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team who are behind the NAOSH Week events at WCH. Each area works in different ways to support and prioritize your physical and psychological safety.

Abilities Management:
Abilities Management Specialists, Kathy Kalka and Lesley Severin provide compassionate support and guidance to staff and their leaders who are navigating an illness/injury (occupational/non-occupational) that requires modified work or a short/long-term disability claim.
Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC)
IPAC Practitioner, Cameron Thomas ensures compliance with infection control best practice standards and guidelines. He supports clinical teams by identifying potential sources of infection and preventing their spread through surveillance, audits, control programs, and education.
Employee Wellness
Wellness Coordinator, Rebekah Chong, fosters the health and well-being of our staff by offering varied workplace wellness programs including yoga, mental health training, and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
Occupational Health
As a Registered Nurse, Lori Matthews oversees staff vaccination requirements and employee health programs.
Occupational Safety
Safety Specialist, Abinaya Selvakumar, and Injury Prevention Specialists Heather Robinson assess workplace hazards that could contribute to the risk of injury and maintain a comprehensive safety management system to build a culture of safety, reduce injuries or illnesses.
