May marks National Physiotherapy Month, a time WCH dedicates to recognizing the invaluable contributions of physiotherapists in enhancing the health and well-being of patients across our hospital.
Physiotherapists are integral members of our healthcare system. They possess specialized clinical skills aimed at assessing, diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, ultimately aiming to improve the overall quality of life for their patients. By leveraging physical exercise and various therapeutic treatment interventions, physiotherapists aim to improve one’s function, mobility and strength, help to reduce reliance on pharmacological interventions (medications), enhance cardiovascular health and how to manage chronic conditions effectively to ultimately optimize one’s quality of life.
At WCH, our physiotherapists specialize in a myriad of areas ensuring comprehensive care for all our patients, from working individuals with osteoporosis, rheumatological conditions, pelvic health, chronic pain and breast cancer, to providing therapeutic support in family practice. Our physiotherapists at WCH span across multiple departments and are involved in various committees including the Diversity Committee, Pride Committee, Professional Practice and are actively involved in quality improvement initiatives and research, further enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our services.
