Celebrating Patient and Experience Advisors!

June 5, 2025

On May 29, WCH hosted its second annual Spring Appreciation Day recognizing patients, care partners, and community members from the Experience Advisor Program and the Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) at the Family Practice Health Centre. This collaborative event, organized by the Patient Experience team and Family Practice Health Centre, honoured and celebrated the valuable contributions of Patient and Experience Advisors in sharing their time, lived experience, and insights as they contribute to improving care, services, and the patient experience.

The afternoon was filled with connection, gratitude, and celebration. Attendees enjoyed lunch, WCH trivia and activities and inspiring remarks from guest speakers. Kate Mlodzik, Experience Advisor at WCH, and Heather Rowe, Patient Advisor for PFAC, shared powerful reflections on the importance of partnership and their involvement in shaping healthcare. In addition, Jack Woodman, Marie Pinard, and Elaine Goulbourne highlighted the many ways Patient and Experience Advisors are actively involved in hospital initiatives and how their perspectives continue to drive quality improvement across the organization.

Attendees were presented WCH’s newly launched Framework for Patient Engagement, which brings structure and clarity to how we meaningfully engage with patients, care partners, and community members across the hospital.

Genuine patient engagement is the cornerstone of improving health outcomes, and the voices of our advisors continue to guide and shape the care we provide at WCH.
