Women’s College Hospital’s (WCH) Scheduling COVID-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) has been named a recipient of the 2022 Peter Armstrong Community Award of Excellence! The award, was established by Renascent Lilian & Don Wright Family Health Centre in 2012, celebrates and thanks individuals and community partners for their outstanding contributions to philanthropy, innovation, service, volunteerism and awareness in service of the recovery community.
The CAC team was nominated for its contribution to the field of addiction and advancement of care for those in need of recovery. The support provided by the CAC team allowed Renascent and other congregate living settings quick access to PCR testing to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in these settings.
“This was an extraordinary support for those in need of addiction treatment and it helped improve access to care during what has been a very challenging time for our sector,” said Tania Archer, who delivered the news about the well-deserved award. “Simply put, you saved lives. Without access to PCR testing, the impact of COVID-19 on Renascent’s clients and others who required access to congregate living settings would have been detrimental. Timing is everything when someone reaches out for help and needs critical addiction treatment. Thank you for your extraordinary work.”
The award will be presented at Renascent’s Guardian Angel Celebration on Tuesday, October 18. Congratulations to the CAC team for your incredible and meaningful work in helping those suffering with addiction and mental health gain access to the care they needed!
