Feedback Drives Change – Meet Kimberley Wood!

September 29, 2023

Meet Kimberley Wood, our first featured Feedback Drives Change Ambassador, who shares her testimonial along with some of the positive departmental changes Medical Imaging has made following the 2022 Engagement Survey results.

Name: Kimberley Wood

Pronouns: She/Her

Title & Department: CT Technologists – Medical Imaging

On the WCH team for: 2 years

How do you feel your feedback can contribute to the betterment of WCH?

As someone who has been at WCH for just 2 years, I feel have a fresh perspective that I can bring to the table and have valuable experience from other organizations that would benefit the future of WCH. Feedback I provide takes all these things into consideration and can help shape the hospital to be an even better place.

What has your department done to implement changes based on last year’s engagement survey responses?

My department is bringing recognition examples to our monthly meetings to ensure that staff are aware of recognition opportunities in medical imaging and across WCH. This has helped ensure we are more aware of all the great things happening here while boosting morale. For example, every month the manager reads compliments we get from our patients aloud which reminds everyone of fact that we are actually helping people, and pushing us to treat patients with the utmost kindness and care.

With this in mind, we also have the opportunity to send any ideas for recognition to our supervisors and/or manager. Along with that, our department sends us a “recognition survey,” giving us the opportunity to anonymously let our leadership team know if we are getting recognized, how often, if we feel its valuable, and also offers another opportunity to send additional ideas for recognition.

On a separate yet positive note, our department keeps things fun with things like surprise cake day and games during meetings to get to know each other better. We never know when a cake will appear – these are simple yet effective touches that keep things fun here in medical imaging.

Why do you think it’s important for people at WCH to complete this year’s Employee Engagement and Demographic Survey?

It’s deeply important that staff, physicians, and volunteers complete this year’s survey.  The survey is designed so that you can have your say in helping to shape the future of WCH – your feedback drives change!

What do you think has most impacted the culture at Women’s over the last 18 months?

Continual learnings around equity and Indigenous health have been invaluable, as well as the commitment to salaries and vacation accruals. This has been a really big step in showing staff their feedback is valuable.
