This week is Environment Services Week, and WCH is taking the opportunity to recognize and thank our amazing EVS staff for all they do! Our EVS staff are integral to the hospital’s operations, as they not only keep our staff and patients safe by maintaining a safe and clean environment, but they also assist in day-to-day patient experiences like porting patients to their appointments and ensuring timely delivery of specimens to labs and other departments.

Part of our recognition this week is meeting some of our EVS workers and getting to know what a day in their life looks like. To get an idea of the scope of work EVS staff do, meet Paulo Oliveira, Aubanie Boland-Soto and Asnakch Ayeneababa.

The EVS department is also taking this week to provide educational opportunities to staff and patients with informative EVS booths in the Atrium! On Monday, September 12 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., meet our Ecotex vendor, see a linen cart display and watch a linen plant video and see what cleaning products are used to keep the hospital clean and safe.

On Tuesday, September 13 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m., meet our Clorox vendor, see what a typical cleaning cart looks like and see more products and machines used in keeping up with hospital maintenance.

On Wednesday, September 14 from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m., don’t miss your chance to see and test out some of the large EVS equipment used in the hospital like autoscrubber and carpet extractor and play some fun games.

Throughout the week, the EVS department will be celebrating their staff with coffee, snacks, lunch wraps and pizza. WCH staff and physicians will also have a chance to share their gratitude with EVS at our annual Team BBQ on Thursday, September 15 by filling out recognition cards at an EVS booth. These cards can also be filled out by staff and patients at all Atrium booths this week.

From everyone at WCH, we’re sending a huge THANK YOU to our EVS staff and all their hard work to keep the hospital going! Watch some messages of gratitude from WCH staff and senior leaders below.
