Meet Gabriela

March 20, 2025

March is Pharmacy Appreciation Month. To celebrate, we’re highlighting members of the WCH community from the Pharmacy department.

Name: Gabriela Krnac

Pronouns: She/Her

Title & Department: Pharmacist, Pharmacy Services

On the WCH team for: 3.5 years

1. What does your typical day look like?

My daily responsibilities vary depending on the clinic area I’m supporting. I provide patient care in the AACU, Atrial Fibrillation Clinic, GIM Clinic, and Surgical Services. In addition, I participate in weekly rounds with the general psychiatry team and address drug-related questions for the SCOPE program. As a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, you might often see me mentoring learners. I collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication use, prevent adverse drug events, and educate both patients and caregivers.

2. What excites you the most about working at WCH?

What excites me most is the opportunity to work with fantastic colleagues. I’m proud to be part of the hospital’s work in advancing sex and gender health.

3. How does your work in the Pharmacy department contribute to a positive patient experience?

Pharmacists directly impact the patient experience in various ways. For instance, I provide patient education to support safe and effective use of medications. By completing medication reconciliation in select clinics, I ensure patients have clarity with medication instructions after their visit and we resolve discrepancies. I take into account patient and family preferences, values, and financial considerations when making medication treatment decisions.

4. Tell us one to three things that your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you.

1) I am taking French language classes
2) I worked as a cookie inspector
3) I love doing Zumba
