Happy 1 year anniversary Women’s College Hospital

June 2, 2014

On May 27, 2014 Women’s College Hospital (WCH) celebrated the 1 year anniversary of its move to Phase 1 of the new hospital.

Exactly one year prior, WCH opened its doors to patients in the new building. It was on this day when WCH welcomed Caroline Noakes, the very first patient who came for her post-mastectomy breast reconstruction surgery.

“I am so proud of everything we have accomplished to date,” said Marilyn Emery, president and CEO, WCH. “Thank you all for the exceptional dedication and spirit that you bring here every day.”

The last year has been a time of tremendous change at WCH. The organization bid farewell to their old beloved hospital and had to adapt to a different space and new routines and then help their patients navigate their way through their new building and new processes. They then launched several new clinical programs, created WCH Institute for Health System Solutions & Virtual Care (WIHV), passed their Accreditation audit with exemplary standing and embarked on implementation of their Ambulatory Electronic Patient Record (aEPR).

To mark this milestone, staff, physicians and volunteers gathered for a small celebration to reflect on the great achievements of the past year and the leading-edge care and unparalleled caring provided to their patients.

At the celebration, two videos were shown to bring back memories from the move to the new facility. To view the video of the farewell to the old hospital building, please click here. To watch the video from the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new facility, please click here.
