Women’s College Hospital celebrates Pride 2015

June 30, 2015

Lately at Women’s College Hospital (WCH), it’s been hard to miss the rainbow flags hanging in the halls, lobby celebrations and buzz surrounding this year’s Pride festivities. As with previous years, the hospital enthusiastically took part in Pride 2015 activities by walking in the Dyke March and sharing pictures and comments of support online.

“To me, Pride is about celebrating diversity,” said Janelle Noel,  a service coordinator for the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre, who helped organize several of the activities at WCH. “The Dyke March is a celebration of how fabulous we are as women. Being part of an organization that celebrates this keeps me optimistic about the future of women’s health .”

Pride 2015

Women’s College Hospital continues to be a proud supporter of the diversity of our city’s communities by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. This year, the festivities kicked off with a celebration in the main lobby, where staff enjoyed coffee, conversation and energizing music. Later in the week, the WCH Pride team hosted a booth and sweets and treats bar .

Though the day of the Dyke March was met with heavy rain, the WCH Pride team was not deterred.  Decked out in their WCH Pride T-shirts, rain jackets and big smiles, the marchers proudly waved the WCH Pride banner.

“This year’s Pride was a great success,” said WCH patient flow coordinator Courtney McLean. “We’re looking forward to expanding the team and better weather for next year!”
