Farewell to the past, hello to the future!

June 17, 2013

On Tuesday, May 28, staff, physicians and volunteers gathered together one last time in the previous building to say goodbye to the past and hello to the exciting future of Women’s College Hospital (WCH).

Guests filled the main lobby and Emily Stowe’s Café, both of which had been transformed into an almost unrecognizable space for music, dancing, celebrations and cocktails. Everyone joined in the festivities and mingled with friends and colleagues to make even more memories.

The delicious food and beverages proved to be a hit as plenty of smiling faces and laughter filled the space as guests reminisced on the past 78 years.

Marilyn Emery, president and CEO, shared a few words and presented a video filmed on May 16 which captured the final work day in our previous home, before the move into our new space.

“Today marks the end of our journey in this wonderful building that has been our home for more than 70 years,” said Emery. “Your hard work and dedication have given us a celebrated history to be proud of and a future to be excited about.”

There were also opportunities for guests to pose for photos on the historic marble staircase and take home framed photos as keepsakes of the evening.

The party came to an end with bittersweet farewells and anticipation for new memories in our new home, the hospital of the future.
