On October 1, 2019, we paid tribute to 94 Women’s College Hospital (WCH) staff and physicians for their commitment and dedication to the hospital at the Long Service Award. The awards, held annually, are an opportunity to celebrate employees who have met milestone years of service with colleagues and friends as they reflect on their time at WCH.
This year’s staff milestones included:
- 32 staff celebrating 10 years of service
- 8 staff celebrating 15 years of service
- 22 staff celebrating 20 years of service
- 11 staff celebrating 25 years of service
- 14 staff celebrating 30 years of service
- 4 staff celebrating 35 years of service
- 2 staff celebrating 40 years of service
- 1 staff celebrating 45 years of service
Guests were welcomed to the ceremony with opening remarks from Heather McPherson, who thanked recipients for their service. Catherine Mathews, an Operating Room Charge Nurse, received a special mention as she has been at Women’s for 45 years! Heather’s remarks emphasized how every role at WCH matters as it contributes to improving access, health equity and patient care.
The next set of speeches came from Sandra Smith, Chief Human Resources Officer, who was the MC for the event. She shared highlights from over the years, while Dr. Danielle Martin, Chief Medical Executive, spoke to recipients about the special connections our people make with patients. Additional members of the Senior Leader Council also congratulated and thanked individuals for their contributions and dedication to the hospital.
Afterwards, staff and physicians being honoured were presented with certificates and thank-you cards and a reception was held in the Pink Cube.
Thank you to all WCH staff and physicians who continue to dedicate themselves to this hospital and its vision to revolutionize healthcare. We truly appreciate your hard work and commitment!
