Patient Information during COVID-19

WCH COVID-19 Assessment Centre
Testing Eligibility : The Ministry of Health has announced changes (Sept. 24th) to who is eligible for a COVID-19 test.
To have a COVID-19 test, people must:
- Be showing COVID-19 symptoms; or
- Have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus, as informed by their public health unit or exposure notification through the COVID-19 app; or
- Be a resident or worker in a setting that has a COVID-19 outbreak, as identified and informed by their local public health unit; or
- Are eligible for testing as part of a targeted testing initiative directed by the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Long-Term Care.
You may experience longer wait times at our Assessment Centre if you do not complete our online registration form. Please only submit one form (per person) and note the following:
- A clinician from Women’s College Hospital will call you to discuss COVID-19 testing. Please only submit one form (per person) and wait for a clinician to call you. Please wait for the call.
- It may take up to 24 hours to receive a call after you register. Calls are made between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. These are outgoing calls only so please leave your phone on to receive the call.
- Results typically take 48-72 hours, we cannot guarantee a faster return and they may take longer depending on volume.
- Children under the age of 2 cannot be seen at our Assessment Centre. Please call Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) for available Assessment Centres.

Preparing for an appointment at WCH during COVID-19
We are only open to patients with appointments. WCH is restricting care partners and visitors with select exceptions at the hospital until further notice. Thank you for your patience and continued efforts to help keep our community safe! With your support, we can continue to provide safe and responsible care to patients during COVID-19, and beyond.
We have undergone many changes to keep everyone safe. Here’s what you can expect when you come into the hospital for your appointment:
You will be asked to sanitize your hands at the entrance, and before you enter or exit any clinics or offices. Take advantage of our hand sanitizer stations around the hospital.
Everyone entering WCH is screened at the front entrance. After sanitizing your hands, you will be instructed to proceed to our screening window where you will be asked questions regarding COVID-19 symptoms.
You will be given a mask to wear throughout your visit in the hospital, only WCH provided masks are permitted at this time. Masks can be disposed off at the end of your visit in the bins provided when you exit.
There are reminders posted throughout the hospital. Please maintain a distance of 2m (6 ft) from others and please note that seating in clinics and public spaces is limited to support this. Try not to arrive at your appointment more than 15 mins early and exit once your appointment is completed.

Will my upcoming appointment or procedure go ahead as scheduled?
You will be notified by your care program or clinic if any appointments are being re-scheduled.
Can I pick up my prescription at the Rexall pharmacy in Women’s College Hospital?
Upon entry to Women’s College Hospital, you will be screened for any COVID-19 symptoms. If you are not experiencing any symptoms, you will be able to pick up your prescription.

Infection control measures at Women's College Hospital
The WOMEN’S COLLEGE HOSPITAL (WCH) IPAC team is in close contact with Public Health Ontario and other agencies to help guide decision-making as the situation evolves. We continue to adhere to routine practices which include monitoring patients for new onset of symptoms, diligent hand hygiene, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfection of equipment.
