Revolutionizing healthcare through research
Women's College Research Institute (WCRI) is a multidisciplinary research institute based at Women's College Hospital (WCH) – Canada’s leading academic, ambulatory hospital and a world leader in women’s health. Our vision is to lead innovative, high impact health research that changes practice, changes policy, and changes lives.
Our scientists, all of whom have academic appointments at the University of Toronto, conduct research that improves population health, patient experience and the efficiency of our healthcare system. They are using revolutionary thinking to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing patients by developing breakthrough discoveries that will improve clinical practice and treatment outcomes.
WCRI is one of only a few hospital-based research institutes worldwide to focus on women's health research – investigating the impact of sex and gender differences on health equity. We are expanding and disseminating knowledge about health conditions that have unique implications for women throughout their lives, like arthritis, depression, diabetes and heart disease. Our scientists are also exploring the unique social, political and economic forces that influence women's health to find tailored solutions that improve their access to health care.
