From May 12 to 16, Women’s College Hospital (WCH) will be celebrating its nurses and honouring their professionalism and dedication to excellence as part of National Nursing Week 2025.
Nursing Week is an annual professional celebration that takes place across Canada and around the world. Each year, the celebrations fall during the week of May 12, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
The Canadian Nurses Association theme this year is The Power of Nurses to Transform Health. This is particularly meaningful to our nurses at WCH as our mission is to transform healthcare for women and gender diverse people. Our nurses facilitate better patient outcomes, improve access and enhance our patients’ experience all through equitable and connected care.
The Power of Nurses to Transform Health theme highlights the incredible impact our nurses have in shaping healthcare, driving innovation and advocating for patient care. At WCH we are Reimaging the Health System with and for our patients. Our nurses are leading and informing innovative care models which prioritize access and realize system efficiencies.
At WCH, our nurses quickly and effectively develop and nurture relationships with patients, family members and the other members of our care teams. Our nurses advocate for their patients to ensure they receive the best possible care and support. Their care, compassion and expertise are demonstrated daily as our nurses work with patients and their care teams.
Are you a nurse? Thank you! Thank you for bringing the best of yourself to the mission of partnering for healing and a healthy future. On May 12, and all through Nurses Week, we honor your defining role in health care and express our gratitude and appreciation for what you do so faithfully every day.
WCH will be hosting several events for nurses during the week, including education sessions. All nurses are welcome to attend.
