Five Women’s College Hospital (WCH) scientists have been awarded new or bridge funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Canada’s federal funding agency for health research.

During the most recent Fall Project Grant competition over 2,000 grants were submitted for consideration from researchers across the country. Of these, only 374 were selected, for an overall funding rate of roughly 17 per cent. The Project Grant program from CIHR aims to support ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related knowledge, healthcare, health systems or health outcomes.
WCH scientists secured roughly $3.7 million in funding from this Project Grant competition to support research in breast cancer, community health, perinatal mental health, and the health and wellbeing of older adults. Through this funding WCH scientists will continue to advance patient care, improve health equity and develop health system innovations.
