WCH’s transformative new leadership program promotes equity amongst healthcare professionals

November 4, 2025

This past Tuesday, Women’s College Hospital in collaboration with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto, excitedly launched The Transformative Health System Leadership (THSL) program.

The THSL program is a leadership development experience designed for Black, Indigenous, racialized women, and gender-diverse healthcare professionals.

The first cohort of 18 emerging and mid-career leaders got together, in-person and virtually, to network, learn more about the program’s offerings and understand how they’ll be transforming healthcare leadership through equity and social justice. The program answers the call for a leadership course grounded in equity, social justice, and cultural and inclusive excellence – blending experiential learning with global and community-rooted leadership practices.

Over the course of 25 weeks, the program integrates rigorous academic frameworks with experiential learning, reflecting various leadership development approaches. The program draws from Indigenous knowledge systems, peer-led reflection, and self-directed learning to nurture ethical, inclusive, and socially responsive leadership.

Coming out of the program participants will have an increased self-awareness and confidence in leadership contexts; mastery of inclusive decision-making and strategic influence; development of a personalized leadership toolkit and capstone artifact; and connection to a cross-sectoral network of equity-minded leaders.

Welcome to the 2025-2026 cohort of leaders!
