Jacqueline Follis accepted and started a position as the first Nurse Lead for Choosing Wisely Canada in September 2023. As part of her new position, she is working to develop a Nursing strategy to raise awareness of Choosing Wisely Canada, the national voice for reducing unnecessary tests and treatments in Canada. Jacquie will bring the nurse perspective to this work and increase implementation of Choosing Wisely recommendations.
The Choosing Wisely Canada mission for decreasing ineffective and costly health care aligns with Jacquie’s core values of both improving care for patients and increasing the quality of care provided by nurses and other health disciplines. To support her strategy role, she will harness her strong nursing leadership skills and experience working collaboratively with diverse health care teams developed over the past 30 + years as a Nurse.
Jacqueline has worked on many system solutions across her time at WCH, improving information shared at care transitions, leading various Covid initiatives, building internal hospital structures and partnering with the Center for Wise Practices in Indigenous Health to shape internal relationships and processes. Recently, she completed a Fellowship with CQUIPS and created a Quality Improvement (QI) program to advance nursing knowledge and proficiency in utilizing QI to improve patient care in multiple clinics and programs at Women’s College Hospital.
Join us in congratulating Jacquie on her new position!
